Following the detailed lesson plans, teachers are guided through the EWAS courses, making their job a lot easier. The Handbook leaves room for flexibility and creativity on the part of the teacher. Emphasis given to any specific part of the lesson, or the decision to alter an activity depends upon the needs of the pupils and the talent of the teacher. Until a teacher really understands the system and the methodology, it is suggested that the teacher follows the plans as outlined in the handbooks and does not make changes.
Teacher Props
The teacher props are the aids needed to create exciting, colorful and meaningful lessons. They are an integral part of every lesson.
Pupils interact with the teacher props. Not only will they see them in every lesson, but they will touch them and move them from one place to another in the classroom and on the board.
The teacher props include picture props, master puppets, masks, an alphabet chart, lettercards, word cards and reading strips.
Workshops
Workshops provide teachers with an overview of the programs. They present the components of each program, the structure of all English With A Smile (EWAS) lesson plans and the elements that are a part of every EWAS lesson.
EWAS founders and developers Gadi Bossin, Ph.D., and Joel Tal, M.Sc., along with expert EWAS teacher trainers demonstrate and give teachers the opportunity to practice all the elements of an EWAS lesson, including —
For the reading programs, the training includes reading and writing activities.
